Cold water immersion after training has been studied for decades. The consistent finding: it reduces perceived soreness, especially after high-volume or eccentric-heavy sessions.
What it helps with
Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), perceived recovery, sleep quality on hard training days.
What it doesn't help with
Muscle hypertrophy — plunging within an hour of strength training may blunt some of the adaptive signal. Time your plunges away from strength sessions if hypertrophy is a goal.
