The first 30 seconds of a cold plunge trigger a cold shock response — rapid, shallow breathing you don't fully control. Learn to override it and every plunge gets easier.
The technique
Before you get in, take three slow deep breaths through your nose. On entry, exhale slowly through pursed lips for as long as possible. Repeat until your breath settles.
